These eight apps are fun and informative

If it seems like there are 50 million resources out there about anything and everything related to pregnancy, you’re probably not far off. There are whole sections of bookstores dedicated to expectant women. And while being educated is important, there is such a thing as too much information.

To help make things a little simpler for you, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite apps. Some of these offer great insight into your pregnancy, while others just provide a bit of fun.

What to Expect

The name of this app pretty much says it all. You can use it to track your weekly progress and find out what’s happening with your baby now and what’s on the horizon. There’s also a countdown feature that will only make you more excited as you approach the big day.

WedMD Pregnancy

WebMD is a great source of reliable medical information, and their pregnancy app is especially good. There are checklists to help you remember your medical appointments and for fun stuff like creating registry lists. The app also has a kick counter and a helpful contraction timer for use later in your pregnancy and during labor.

BabyBump Pro

This app tracks the growth of your baby, but it also puts a focus on you. It will help you monitor the physical changes you’re going through, as well as other aspects of pregnancy like food cravings and moods.

CineMama

Nowadays some women love showing all of their friends and families (and perhaps millions of strangers online), their growing belly through time-lapse videos. If you’ve ever seen one and thought that it would be fun to do, CineMama is the app for you. All you’ll need to do is take a pic everyday, add music, and the app will do the rest.

Glow: Nurture

This app is excellent for monitoring your health during your pregnancy. Using charts, it keeps track of important things like your weight and blood pressure. One of the best aspects is that every trimester is broken down into helpful tidbits. The app also contains a planner so you won’t forget any important appointments.

The Bump

If you’re continually fascinated with how your baby is growing and developing, The Bump app will let you know what’s going on every step of the way. The Inside the Bump feature is especially riveting, as it offers a 3D image of your growing baby, including a 360-degree view.

Baby Names

Unless you’ve known long before you were pregnant what you’d be naming your baby, you are probably still deciding. With over 30,000 names, this app may not make choosing any easier, but it will at least provide something interesting to peruse while in the waiting room at your doctor appointments.

Who’s Your Daddy?

Let’s not forget Dad! By taking a humorous approach to pregnancy and fatherhood, this app offers a variety of good tips for soon-to-be daddies who may not have any idea what they’re in for.
