Dear Followers of Moms On Top,

It’s me, Gail – founder, fearless leader, and above all, fellow MOM!

Although I don’t know how I could stay organized without knowing what day, week, month or year it is, I don’t personally subscribe to the calendar definition of time at the deepest level. January 1st does not conjure up a strong renewed motivation for me. I don’t need a specific date to think of someone, to celebrate, or to be motivated to better my life.

I sat next to a gentleman at a wedding last night who asked me what I wanted for 2019… what I wanted to be different; to do differently. I had a difficult time answering that. You see, in general, I’m really fulfilled – not because I have everything I want – but because I consciously and consistently work at having everything I want, and certainly, because I live with so much gratitude. When I asked the same question of him he stated, without hesitation, that he wanted “more health” – meaning that he wanted to continue to be healthy as he got older. With genuine interest and curiosity I pressed him to find out what he might be considering doing to achieve that goal. He sort of shrugged his shoulders and said he didn’t really know; that he didn’t have a plan.

Although health and birth – the sources of my two passions and professions -may not seem connected, I often witness a strong overlap. In one way, there’s a common sense that “things will somehow work out”, or that “whatever will be will be”, as if we don’t have any control. So we hope for the best.

I’m sure there are those who choose to remain blissfully ignorant, but I think this gentleman, and so many others like him simply don’t know where to begin. AND I absolutely believe that this is also the case with the majority of expecting parents.

Imagine if, by chance, you stumbled upon someone or something that provided an “aha” moment – one that intrigued you enough to keep looking or asking; maybe even someone or something that offered the first step, which would potentially lead to many more life-changing steps?

What? You say that HAS actually happened to you before? You have thought that thought “How amazing that I went to the party/bar/event I wasn’t going to go to and that’s where I met the love of my life!”?… or, “It’s crazy how I delete practically everything in my inbox, but I clicked on the one email which brought me to this, and then that, and here I am with my dream job!”?

There is a reason I’m sending this New Year’s message, and there is a reason you are reading it. I am here for you – no matter where you are (on your journey into mother or fatherhood, or on this earth!) How awesome that you have someone who can answer your questions; someone who will respect your individuality and not assume what you want for yourself, your pregnancy, and your birth!

It doesn’t have to be today because it is the first day of a new year, but since the symbolism is there, and it makes the story you may tell one day that much better 🙂, I’m glad you found me/Moms On Top/this message today.

Here’s to being the healthiest, most empowered, conscious, motivated, take-charge, bada$$ moms (and dads) out there!

Don’t forget – HERE I AM! Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
XOXO 😊🎉💜
